Failed Focus Engine Mount Disaster - Any Advice Please?

Featured Replies

Hello all, I'm new to the FOC and am writing to ask for some advice. My mrs was turning the car round the other day and heard a loud thunk and the exhaust started blowing like a tractor. She reversed and heard a loud grinding and went forward and ground to a halt.AA got to her and saw the engine was severely lopsided and said it had come off its mount and taken the drive shaft out.

I was wondering if anyone else had heard of this happening to a 2007 1.8tdi focus. We recently (about 2000 miles ago) had dual mass flywheel and clutch changed. Does this work need the engine to be removed or fiddled with and if so, is it possible that the engine mount has not been properly seen to when replaced?

I am fairly sure that we would struggle to prove this and will have to stomach the loss, but am hopeful!

Also, any ideas how much it might cost to fix?

Thanks, Ben

A photo would probably help so people know better which mount you've got the problem with.

Could be possible the mount was disturbed during the clutch/DMF change especially if they had to get some movement in the engine for the gearbox to come out or even remove it as part of the job.

From what you've seen so far has the mount itself broken up, or become detached from the engine/body of the car?

Thanks Troy, I haven't had a chance to look yet but I will get some photos and put them on. Cheers, Ben.
