anyone got any ideas why build dates fit the fiesta zetec s are so long ordered one in September so far build date is approx February nxt year seems long to me

Yeah that seems really long, I don't know if that's normal though. I think my ST took about 6 weeks but that was quicker than some others.

Thought so getting a bit concerned coz they are built in Germany and there factories shut down soon over Xmas thanx for the reply.

Build times are usually a juggling act for the plant sequencing in all of it's different orders, especially if other variants such as B-max are also built on the same line. Also supplier's capacity to take into account increases in build volumes, or the effect of trying to build around shortages of option parts which can happen due to unexpected hiccups.

Could well be as zetec s is having the city pack added

Trying to get any info from Ford as to what is delaying the build as well is like trying to get blood from a stone.

It took 4 months to get my Zetec S Red Edition and I never did find out what the delay was.

Phoned ford they are looking into it so will see what happens just seems a long time from order in September to possible build in February next year.

Often companies don't want to go public on the nitty gritty issues affecting their sequence of build, plus taking into account how many cars the plant will be churning out it would overwhelm their scheduling department if they were answering lots of queries from dealers as to why a certain car or spec was taking so long to get into the build sequencing.

I waited 7 months for my first Focus ST so know what it feels like - turned out Ford messed up a load of orders and when mine was finally put into the system it just went to the back of the queue 10 weeks after it was first placed

Much different story if you're able to get a car out of dealer stock instead of a factory order.

The dealer phoned yesterday saying the planned Build date is now beginning of January so should have it by end of of January fingers crossed

Had a call from ford today and they gave me a build date of 17th of January is that when the car starts to be built or when it's almost of the production line

I think that's when the car has been built, so it's ready to be delivered which also takes ages.

So could well be a March 1st reg then

Anyone know how long it takes to deliver after the car has been built?

Off the top of my head I'd say 3-5 weeks, depends how long it takes to get through the transport system and various holding compounds.

With my first Focus ST I was able to get hold of printouts showing it going through segmentation, the whole build process and the various intermediate stops before it finally got to the dealer. Second ST had been built before I ordered it so wasn't able to do the same again.

Looks like it will be a 15 plate then I suppose the dealer will prefer that
