Any Advice Would Be Grateful

Hi Evereryone

I am new to this club and really hoping to get some advice from you guys with the know how, I have a 2003 Mondeo 2.0 TDCI automatic, it starts and runs fine however the problem I have is on tickover sitting in traffic it has a really rough idle and hunts as if it is going to stall, I have changed the Fuel filter and the air filter with no difference, I took it to a garage that I have used a lot in the past with other cars i've had, and they put it on the diagnostic machine and it was not showing any error codes, but then it stalled and it came up with Fuel Pump Malfunction, the mechanic said that the pump has to be coded and he cannot do it without the codes which I have not got, so I took a look online and most people with pump problems that have asked have been told the TDCI pump is not coded it's the TDDI pump that has to be coded, so I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me, thanks in advance guys

AFAIK, on the mondeo only the injectors are coded.

The tddi pumps are timed and feed each injector where as the tdci pumps supply a constant pressure to the 'common rail'

Thanks for the reply Stefan, so he should be able to just replace the pump straightforward with no coding needed?
