Fiesta 2009 Front Washers Not Working

Featured Replies

Hi all the front washers have stopped working on my fiesta 2009. The back one still works ok and can hear the pump going in engine bay. But when I try to operate the front washers I get no sound and the wiper doesn't operate either. The front wipers work fine on every other setting. Would it be a new pump I need or something else?

Have you checked fuses?

Also check the water pipe as sometimes the pipe is crushed by the bonnet hinge. Happened on my wifes 2009 Fiesta Zetec S when new.

Yes fuses fine and water pipes not crushed. Its not even trying to squirt. The wipers don't do the auto 4 wipe after spraying either. Think it may be the pump ?

Stalk switch?

Sorry about the slow reply been busy with xmas. I jacked up car and got to the pump and pulled the plug off. Got multimeter in the plug and tried wiper stalk. Rear worked fine so switched wires around on plug and the front started doing its 4 wipe after spraying so I assumed it was the pump working only for the rear. Ordered a 2nd hand pump as new ones are £50 and decided to fit it today. Fitted it and same thing is happening :( Can't understand it as power is going to the plug. Even got a battery charger on the new pump to test it in both directions and it works fine. Not sure what to do next. Has anyone got any ideas?

Doesn't that mean it's the stalk then?

Hello.  I realise this is a really old thread but was this ever resolved.  I have just bought a 2009 Fiesta and same issue, pump is working as back is fine, done a gem test and its not receiving a signal from the washer button, however when i put the back washers on and press the button, it stops back washers working, i was thinking must be stalk until i discovered the button stopping back washers working.

The fuse seems to control the whole water pump and therefore as its working for back, it cannot be that.
