Aftermarket Alarm

Featured Replies

I'm considering one of these which has a built in immobiliser that overrides the ford alarm and immobiliser

Anyway, I've also been speaking to my husband about this one, as said I'm seriously considering it and he's saying anything that messes with the ford immobiliser might well invalidate any warranty on any part of the engine the aftermarket alarm touches, because if you damage any components or affect the onboard computer system they can be VERY expensive to rectify

So I'm after other people's opinions as well, tbh, is he right?

Leave the factory Ford alarm/immobiliser alone, and have a Toad AI606 fitted. Awesome piece of kit and reasonably priced, i have one on my Impreza and its been very reliable.

The Ford immobiliser will still work, but the alarm system shouldnt arm itself (as long as its not self arming) if using an aftermarket alarm which locks the doors, sunroof etc.

The Toad AI606 is a Thatcham CAT1 system, basically means it is an alarm system with built in immobiliser, it is a 2 circuit immobiliser which will cut 2 circuits when armed.
