Online Discounted Car Sites

Featured Replies

Not sure why, as I have placed my order and am happy with the price I paid, but I have just been onto buyacar.co.uk and for some reason the discount available for the 3dr 1.6 Ti VCT Titanium is now only available with 865.00 discount whereas the 5dr is 2,830.00.

As far as the petrol engined cars are concerned, with very few exceptions, the discounts have dropped considerably with only 3 cars available with 2K+ discounts - the majority now come with less than 1K off.

I know it is not good for people trying to get a good deal now but at least it should mean that those of us who already have our cars or, like me, have them on order, should see the second hand prices hold up better.

My car from buyacar.co.uk would be 15,970 and I can assure you I paid nowhere near that price

I'd never use an online site again buying my car. I've just cancelled my order after 8 weeks with my first company as I was getting messed about so much (I don't think they had ever ordered the car) I'm now on to my 2nd company who luckily have a cancelled orderand have much better customer service. I'm no longer getting the Individual interior for practical reasons but have ordered the Mobile Navigation option instead. Here's to another 8 week wait :(

I was never going to order on line but I did it to give me a guide as to what kind of discount I might be able to achieve, although with a showroom etc to pay for clearly buying on the 'High Street' is always going to be slightly more expense - in my case it worked out to about an extra 5% I would have saved. Now the on line option is more like 11% dearer

I'm quite comfortable with buying stuff on line but I'd never buy such an important thing like a car on line.

You've no back up if anything goes wrong and if you have a problem face to face service cannot be beaten.

Now some of you will say that prices are better on line but if you're canny you can get good deals elsewhere. ;)

i ordered mine from an online dealer, although you do actually buy it through a proper garage.

The thing that swayed me was the costs of the extras, for example the titanium x pack was £900 saving £100 from the list price.

Dealdrivers perhaps?

lol, how did you guess

It's the whole 'you get through an actual dealer' thing.

JAR bought his car through Deal Driver - he has it now, after 20 odd weeks.

I got the X pack added to mine, through the High Street dealer for 760

That's a good price.

To be honest when we went round the local dealers they were not very interested in the sale, probably due to the long lead time, and they wouldn't really budge on the price. I hope JARs experience is a one off, I don't mind waiting till october for two reasons, the first is i have enough time to get enough money together to put a good deposit down as well as the scrappage discount, and also it will get me away from the problem i have with the yaris have your tried to get your car serviced o and MOT on or near the 1st or March.

Nick in your sig you have Extra Tinted Windows, do you mean you have the front windows done as well?

Yes - I'm going to get a light smoke tint on the front windows (still legal) as the back windows have a very dark tint.

Well in addition to that, and because I genuinely did not want to have the leather but getting the 17" alloys was goignt o cost me 800+ as a dealer fit accessory, he also knocked off another 50 of the total price so I guess I got it for ony just over 700.

He did say that the X Pack is the option with the highest mark up so if you have not yet placed your order give it some thought and see if you can get a good deal on the X Pack too

I had mine delivered in March ( 8 weeks delivery time ), I bought through Deal Drivers and saved a fortune over my local dealers. The reason JAR had to wait so long had nothing to do with Deal Drivers or the dealer he used via them, which was the same as mine and their service to me was exemplary.

Well he did have the incident where he had to go and search the compound as they had no record of the car being delivered to them and yet it was sitting on site so I think some of it might have been to do with his dealer (or the individual salesman)

I guess having a more specced up car does seem to be having an impact on delivery too as the more you add to the top end models the more it seems to slow them down.

And how many weeks did that put him back?

well I believe that the car was actually delivered to the dealers on the 4th July but he only managed to take delivery last week - so the best part of 3 weeks additional wait . . .

But, the three week wait wasn't because they didn't know the car was there, was it? That's a rhetoric question by the way.

Clearly not but he did have problems with his dealer and despite it being the same dealer that you used and got wonderful service, his experience was far from that level.

Anyway, back to the topic - has anyone else noticied it harder to obtain higher discounts on the 3dr models?

Maybe they are offering discounts on the 5dr to try and sell more and take some sales away from the 3dr, to help the backlog on the 3dr, so they don't have people complaining that the delivery times are too long.

Supply and demand, 3dr sells easier than 5 dr, hence bigger discounts on the models they are struggling to sell. Simples.

exactly what my dealer told me then tried to get me to purchase a 5door saying i would get it soon.

"no thanks matey"

had a 5door fiesta mk6 as my last car and got enough "is that you family car for your news kids" joke. not good for a 21year old.

So maybe it is the 3 door body shell that is causing the delay as was rumoured a while back on another thread.

Just been on another online discount place and found that they are offering similar levels of discounts on 3 and 5 door cars - the plot thickens . . . . .
