Fusion 3 1.6 Intermittent Issues Starting

Hi all,

I am new to the forum having only just recently bought my first Ford, and hopefully someone can help here!

I have a 53 plate 1.6 petrol Fusion 3, and had issues getting it started twice last week. It turns over fine on the starter, and when it feels like the engine has fired or about to start, it just dies. On both occasions it did get going in the end after about five tries, but I'd quite like to get to the bottom of why this might be.

Both times have happened after work, so the car does a 15 mile motorway run, then sits for about 8hrs.

There loads of fuel in it, and I can hear the fuel pump whirring when I turn the ignition on, and once started, it has run smoothly both times.

Its still under warranty, but predictably, the garage can't repeat the issue and its not showing any fault codes.

Has anyone else had anything like this? Any help appreciated...
