Aux In Issue

Featured Replies

Today I connected my MP3 player to the stereo via the 3.5mm aux socket & virtually no sound was coming through unless I turned it up to 25-30. I have tried 2 different cables but get the same thing. My MP3 player is brand new (only used a few times). But when I connect direct into the usb socket, it comes through as it should.

Is this normal??

I have a fiesta my 7.5

The design of the Ford aux socket is not very good.

The front and rear parts sometimes have a bit of play on them so when pushing in a cable the rear part (which has all the contacts on it) can move causing the contacts to be bridged and the left/right channels to get muddled.

The best fix is to tape or glue the two parts together from behind ensuring the alignment is correct.

Thanks Stoney871. Any idea how to get at the back of the socket?

You'll need to pull the panel or find access to behind it.

Not owning a Fiesta myself I can't be 100%

If that doesn't help it might be worth trying it with a little pre-amp like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/FiiO-E06-Portable-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B005HJWWW8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424690856&sr=8-1&keywords=headphone+amplifier

I had to use that on my last Fiesta when I changed phones, otherwise I would get a lot of fuzzing in the sound. I think the Ford aux input is a bit unreliable with different devices. In the end it was too much messing around connecting 2 different things, so I gave up and used CDs. If you have USB it's probably better to just use that.

Thanks for the reply Phil 87. I tried it in my dads Fusion, it was even worse, it just crackled & hissed. I am going to use the usb socket with this MP3 player. My older MP3 player (no usb connector) works fine via the line-in route.

Thanks for all the help guys.
