Rear Mount Cycle Carrier For S-Max

Featured Replies

I'm looking to get a Rear Mount Cycle Carrier for my 2010 S-Max Titanium. Does anyone have any experience of these? I'm under the impression that they aren't recommended due the composite hatch but has anyone used any without problems? How many bikes have you carried? I'm looking to carry 2 adult and 1-2 kids bikes.

I was looking for something like http://www.halfords.com/cycling/accessories/cycle-carriers-bike-racks/exodus-rear-high-mount-3-cycle-carrier-clamp-fitting

Thanks.

Have a look at http://www.thebrightside.org.uk/towcars.html

I have a Witter detachable on my Smax and tow a caravan and put bikes on the rear mounted rack. Not the cheapest option but it works. If you want to reduce costs go for the fixed flange towball and use the carrier which sits in the brackedt that you bolt behind the towball.

Hi Drkash, yes it does work but......

We bought an Italian Peruzzo carrier which is fully suspended off the tailgate by four straps. Given the thin metal bodywork I expected my tailgate to be bent after each journey with the bike rack on, but it held. I doubt you"ll get more than two on though.

I had one but didnt feel comfortable with it. Bought a no name brand off ebay that bolts on the tow bar, can carry 4 bikes, very sturdy and great qualityl, tilts to allow rear access & all for less than £65 complete with lights & lead .... bargain.
