Engine Management Indicator

Featured Replies

I have a Ford Focus ghia 1600cc petrol - automatic - 2003

I have owned this car for 9 years and do extremely low mileage. Periodically the engine management light comes on, and when this happens the automatic gears do not change normally - it is as if I am in a sports ratio.

I stop and turn the engine off for a few seconds and then restart and everything is back to normal.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would say to plug it in to an elm 237 £14 on ebay software is free, to see what codes come up.

Easiest and fastest way to fine what wrong.

As Joe says, you need a diagnostic cable I have an F Super cable which should work with your car, and should hopefully pick up the error codes.2003 was the crossover of the OBDII standard, so an OBDI cable should work, but the F Super should do the job!
