haha, well my plan B came into affect today, and I want to say a big thanks to Gillingham Football Club :)

I dropped an email in last week expecting a a "pahahahahahaha" response. I got directed to the stadium manager, gave him a call and he sounds like a great chap. Asked me what I was up to, so told him Im jacking it up to change the brakes - "no problem" he says.

Gave me full access to the corner of the car park near my road and told me the gates open at 7:30 and if I dont want to get locked in, then I should jump out before 5 o clock. If I dont get the job finished, just leave the car jacked up and in the corner and they will lock it in overnight and I can just get on with it in the morning :)

What an awesome group! Normally it frustrates me living near the stadium lol, but they are more than happy to help local residents. Seems as long as I wasnt doing anything like ripping an engine out, and they arent going to be hosting any events or matches, they seem happy enough to help out!

Thanks for that John!

Aye I'm over the moon. If it hadnt been for them I would have been doing all brakes on a roadside on a one way Street so they have made life a lot easier.

Now I just need to load the boot with three toolkits, a drill, and everything I need to rip the brakes apart...

Good for you Jeebo, glad it turned out that way.

It's great when people do little favours like that eh. I understand your pain about parking on the street - my car also lives on the street in a busy area, and there have been times when I have gotten odd looks from people when working on my car, perhaps thinking I am trying to steal alloys or something - I don't dress like a chav either, I swear! :P

It also sucks when it suddenly starts bucketing rain, and having to run back whilst carrying a whole load of tools and other junk under your arm.

haha, yeah I just have to hope weather is on my side, otherwise I might be pitching up a makeshift gazeebo with brooms, poles and a sheet of plastic lol. If I get wet, I get wet, Im used to it lol

But yeah most the folks around my way know I do the work on my car, having changed turbo intercooler pipes, dealt with wheels, changed brake pads etc in the past, some of my neighbours wind me up saying they havent seen my head under the bonnet recently, was something wrong! lol

Yeah its small things like this, especially from the local football team! they dont want anything in return they are just happy to help the residents who have their struggles, even if there isnt much they could normally do!

Hopefully I could have all the brakes done in one day, but if not, at least I have the plan there to have as much time as I need.
