Mk1 Floppy Gearstick

Hi I've got a Mk1 1.9 tdi which has got a floppy/wobbly gearstick. Which is resulting in 5th n especially reverse VERY DIFFICULT to do, my wife can't get it in but I can . I've removed the gearstick gator surround and noticed tht the ball n clips at the base r I very floppy. I'm struggling to find a replacment, ford want £12 for just the ball alone. Found a used one on eBay which has got everything from the gearbox backwards , but tht just bin sold would the VW SHARAN gear selector fit it or not?? I've included a pic of the part in question.

I've emailed loads of breakers n get silly prices, lowest I've had was £60 I don't mind paying £40 but £60 thts a bit steep!!
