Engine Malfunction - Help Please!

Featured Replies

When driving on the motorway at 60mph my 2011 Ford Smax TDCI suddenly displayed the Engine Malfunction red triangle on the dashboard. Frightened the life out of me. It went into limp home mode, but ran fine once I stopped and restarted engine.

Local garage read fault codes: P1169 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor in range but high. and U0284 Lost Comm with Active Grille Arr Shutter Module A.

It's now happening regularly, but local garage don't know where to start looking for problem.

- only happens when driving at speed >60mph.

- happens when accelerating (but not hard, just to overtake. No more than 3000rpm)

- no other dashboard warning lights other than orange i light

Engine is slightly lumpy but otherwise runs fine.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas what it might be?
