2002 Tdi Turbo Problem?

Hi everyone, and thanks for reading my post.


Just bought a 2002 Galaxy TDI with 145,000 miles and I think I may have a problem. Now and then I hear a kind of dump valve sound from inside the car when changing gear, is that right? And today I can hear a kind of intermittent rattling/knocking noise to coincide. Are these connected? Sorry if this doesn't make sense to anyone but i`m no mechanic!! Turbo still works fine

    Is the exhaust system ok? sometimes a leak in the exhaust can cause a bit of noise when letting off the throttle - which the rattle/knock could be connected if the exhaust is damaged.
