Aircon Not Working

Featured Replies

Hello all, new to the site so any help much appreciated,

My focus 1.8 turbo diesel aircon has decided not to work this year for some reason,

Re-gassed last summer and had it checked for leaks, came back as no leaks,

Tried it a few days back when stuck in heavy traffic on the M6, just blew warm air,

Now iv tried the aircon button on/off method to see if the revs drop or I hear a clicking, revs stay the same and theres no clicking under the bonnet as iv been told there should be,

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Your gas has gone again by the sounds of it, get garage to check pressures, and put sone dye in and recheck for leaks.

Thanks Ian, would that stop the sound of the click you should hear and the revs dropping slightly ?

Yep, unless there's sufficient gas in the pressure switch won't enable the compressor clutch or cooling fan, open the bonnet start car and switch on air con button and see if cooling fan is spinning over

Thanks for the info Ian

I had the same issue in my mondy, basically the seal on the compressor had started to deteriorate, filled it and it worked for a week or two then it died. Had to have the compressor changed twice and then I got it back. Still working now a year after the fix.

James I think that could be my problem, there was a squealing sound coming from that area but has near on stopped now, was wondering if the bearing has gone,

Didn't want to waste money on a re-gas if there is a leak then find out iv got to spend more later, the car is so reliable and dint have the sound last summer, started in the winter where you woudnt use the aircon so you wouldn't know if it had gone or not.

Some garages are good and will Regas for free if they get the job of repair

I could take it back where I had it gassed last summer but, haven't got the receipt,

Might be too far gone. To be honest mobile diagnostics with specialists cab Regas for 30 and since their Costs are low the cost of the work and parts could be cheaper too, but If they have to pop in a full amount of nitrogen they might do the work and r gas it free after.
