Hi all, could someone tell me if it's relatively straightforward to change the rear bumper on my 2007 Focus please? A lady ran into the back of me last week, we have settled without insurance and she is paying for the bumper but I am being quoted over £100 just for labour on this so was considering attempting it myself if it is easy enough...

Anyone have any experience doing this? I am getting the bumper (well 2 parts of of) from Ford so it'll be the right colour, am I going to make a mess if I try it myself or is it something I could attempt at home? I have seen guides on it, don't want to have to remove rear wheels if it's at all possible. If there's a way to do it without removing the wheels I may give it a go.

The strip containing the rear parking sensors is fine, the sensors work perfectly and apart from a couple of minor scratches this part won't need changing.

when i changed the bumper on my 08 focus i removed the wheels to make it easier to fit but i am sure you dont need to do this.

the rest of it should be easy enough me thinks - even it it takes you a couple of hours it'll be worth it - satisfaction from doing it yourself ;)

There's 2 nuts in the rear of the wheel arches and 2 you can see when you open the hatch.

The bumper hooks onto the boot lip all the way across.

You meed to temove all screws holding the rear of the wheel arch liner in place as they screw into the front edge of the bumper mounting brackets.

Tbh the hardest part for you will be swapping over the trim holding the reversing sensors.

It has tabs the full length of the trim which are snug to say the least.

You may find it necessary to destroy the old bumper to get the trim off without mangling the tabs.

If you find yourself in need of new mounting brackets due to a ripped out captive bolt (does happen) let me know as I have a new pair sat slack (a result of a cancelled project).

I had planned to fit a facelift bumper to my Mk2 but as I am collecting a new car on friday the parts are now surplus.

I have a pair of brackets, rivets and a silver facelift bumper (requirez cosmetic work), lights and bulb holders sat slack now so are up for grabs.

THanks, silver probably wouldn't go (I think my car technically is blue although it's a silvery bluey type of colour. I am hoping to buy a bumper ready painted in this colour but finding it hard to track one down online- any tips for good places to look?
