I Need Advice Asap. (Disabled Parent Only Transport)

Featured Replies

My dad said the car was running alittle slow. I ran dignostic and come up a mass air flow sensor error code.

My dad wiggled the plug and engine cut out. I stripped back the plug and wires was damaged and shorted out.

I cut and solider new loom and reconnected maf. The engine is no longer starting.

Iv checked all fuses and relays (level 1,2,3) also power to diesal pump. (All fine)

The laptop (vag com payed verson) will no longer connect to the engine. Yet worked fine before and in past.

Maf Sensor pins are reading 3k resistence. (Think should be over 10k)

Maf power is reading -0.01v. (Think should be 5v or 12v normaly)

Im guessing the ecu as shorted out its power supply rail, Worth a gamble replacing ecu? Or can i bridge power to that rail to see if it runs ?

No help then ?

Tend to find on here that if people don't have an answer/idea then they won't post. This helps avoid clogging threads up with lots of "Sorry mate, dunno" or "Can't help ya bud" posts.

Personally, I'd be inclined to replace the sensor, and leave the battery disconnected for a bit (cuppa, sandwich and a toilet trip) to see if that resets it

Ecu been disconnected overnight inc battery.

Still not starting. Because ecu is no longer connecting to dignostic macine

I think maf shorting as destoryed ecu.

I think maf shorting as destoryed ecu.

Is sending the ECU off for inspection/repair an option for you?

The engine is now running if i run 12v to diesal pump and ecu also reads.

There must be a problem with wiring to 109 relay. I replaced it today and i have same issue.

Anyone got diagram to trace back the wiring

Anyone got wiring digram for relay 109 i cant work it out :(.

Is it safe to fit 12v lead to diesal pump and keep relay 109 removed.

I wouldnt say it was safe as your likely to risk more electrical faults, though in the interim its worth doing to keep your disabled parents on the move.

Have a look for ford TIS disks - these have all the wiring schematics you could ever need. I will try and have a look over the weekend and see if I have a copy of it, if I do, I will send over the wiring schematics for it.

They did 110 miles today and when i got home i checked my wiring and fusebox and northing was warm or damaged. I think aslong as relay is removed it shouldnt clash. The engine as lost alot of power. I think there is damaged maf wiring. Maybe ecu as shorted it. Anyone know how i can test maf wiring ? Incase wiring as just damaged the sensor and not ecu

Also i have no engine codes but the fuel shutoff valve grounded or open circuit. Due to me using it to power the ecu/sensors/loom
