Good job Matt, you did the right thing there. I heard something on the radio about it this morning, something about the unlawful killing verdict. Do you know how much of an impact your evidence has had on the case? Hopefully it helped.

Possibly did, the company policy dictates no surprise either, that only qualified competent individuals should carry out audits and inspections and not a rep who has just left school / college and probably had no idea that was going to have to do so. gave them a few bits that highlighted corner cutting all over the shop and contradictory information that other people prior were complaining of being ill in that place, they already knew that anyway but just had some actual copies of them lol.

Jeebo I can't paste anything, but google. Daily Mail Corfu gas death and that should bring it all up. actually quite a lot of pages.

I want charges pressed personally, the family deserve some sort of justice and not for Mr. I got a £1.2M bonus in 2007 and a 40% payrise to 400K PA in the year that followed the incident to walk away and carry on running another travel firm.

started reading up on it now, if he had killed my kids and kept replying "I decline to comment" I think my response would be something quite violent, if not lethal!

to be honest I suspect the evidence Matt submitted wouldnt be able to play a part in the inquest to their death, however, now that it is designated as unlawful killing, its quite likely the police will further investigate and the evidence would be used for prosecution.

Boiled my (insert ban worthy terms here ) it's a shambles, surely he will have to answer at some point, and by declining to answer just means you have something to hide? that's actually what spurred me on for this, don't want to comment....WELL I'LL MAKE YOU COMMENT YOU FIEND!!! 1.7GB's worth of incriminating data bomb has been handed over lol each one rigged for every wriggle you try and make, planned to always be one step ahead.

Something I won't comment on, however the thing that will kill it off for them was the business's response to the incident in the first place..... not going to post it, I hope it goes public first and ruins them.

I saw some of there comments.

One was along the lines of "Im sorry for what has happened but its not TC's fault"

the other was

"The hotel told us there was no gas supply, and the gas fittings where tested by non approved technicians"

I'm sorry, but if you are using a company / business who you know is cutting corners, and you dont actually know whats going on, then you need to be shot.

The very fact they knew the place was not gas safe, and yet they were still selling those rooms is absurd!

Well it appears Thomas Cook have finally been shamed into an apology

But they've still made money out of it. I for will never book with them again.

I for will never book with them again.

Same here. I think that's the only way they'll realise what they've done wrong, when they start losing money through lack of customers.

Did you all like the way it "emerged" they received £3.5M in compensation from the hotel group? Thomas Cook received compensation in the millions. the family I cannot say what they got but it wouldn't be enough to cover buying a new Fiesta let alone the cost of losing a Child, even millions to me wouldn't cover losing my boy unless it covered the cost of technology to resurrect him.

Complete and utter farce.

wonder why they are £1.2BN in debt, more than Real Madrid and Manchester United combined iirc.

Disgraceful.

Despite the farce that's occurred, I hope the parents can find some closure.

Personally I think someone needs to be held accountable, under the EU package travel regulations tour operators need to protect consumers from all foreseeable harm, the fact that 3 members of staff at the hotel are serving 7 years ( out now ) says to me they should have vetted their partners before they sent clients there, taking their word for it for years on end with nothing happening isn't good enough.

Still to this day this goes on in 90% of other holiday firms, believe me the other huge one is no better, hence why every week they are in Daily mail with mass food poisoning, they just do not know what they are doing nor do they know how to inspect a giant hotel, all they do is walk around with a checklist that takes 10mins to complete, all of them are yes or no questions.

they also have a practice of mailing it to the hotel to complete themselves, with no system of validation whatsoever.

Best advice I can offer to any holiday maker on here is make your choices very carefully, any of the huge chains these companies are heavily invested in, they sometimes chuck well over £1M in terms of a deposit towards them just to be able to sell rooms there.

some chains are also the firms themselves, such as Riu Hotels are in fact TUI majority owned. TC are in bed currently with Sentido Hotels and you may have noticed all these smartline properties, also it's them managing them.

If they can't inspect a boiler or a kitchen properly what chance do they have of running a 500 person hotel at the best of times.

Yes I agree with that. Whenever I'm staying at any hotel I always check them out on Tripadvisor, google reviews etc. And if it's in the UK we have the advantage of checking the food standards rating, but I don't know if other countries have an equivalent of this.

I'm thinking of a particular word which cannot be used on the forums...

Could always move to the unmodded part of the forum for members only ( would need to renew though mind )

^ We need an option so that wherever you see a "removed" all the paying members can see what was actually said :P

A few forums actually have that setting, more so via tapatalk that you can remove the swear filter. pretty good app that.

I'm guessing on here the filter physically replaces words with "removed" in the thread itself, so maybe that wouldn't work.

It does it reads the naughty word and changes the text shown.
