I've got two daughters and a wife who seem to think that cars are maintained and repaired by fairy dust, when in reality its down to me to keep them on the road.

So with many years experience as a breakdown/recovery mechanic, I decided that I would get them each driving a Focus 1.8 diesel as I do.

We've had beemers, mercs, vauxhalls, nissan, suzuki and even a daewoo (aaagh!) but I have found if you're on a budget and effectively keeping four cars on the road then stick with ford.

Why?

The 1.8 diesels are pretty bullet proof engines.

If serviced regularly they are very reliable

They are good on fuel

Parts are easy to get and often quite reasonably priced

They handle well and are good to drive

not only is it a family of fords, but its a family of fords with the same focus!

Haha I like it. My missus thinks me and son are nuts for both having ST's and daughter thinking about one.
