1.6Tdci Same Size Bumpers/ Bodywork As 1.8Dci?

Featured Replies

I am in need of a new/ second hand bumper for my Focus 1.8TDCi (2006) I have found one listed for a 1.6TDCi (2006) in the right colour and it is dead cheap so very tempting obviously!

This is the part in question:

Just a quick question then- would a bumper from a 1.6 fit my 1.8? Are the panels/ bumpers same size for both engine sizes? Sorry if that is a silly question I just don't want to waste a 150 mile round trip tomorrow to find it's the wrong size (I messaged the ebay seller- a breaker's yard- and asked them if it would fit, they said "they think so" and have kept hold of it till Wednesday so don't want to miss this bargain :)

Thanks in advance, you guys are so helpful on here!

Not a silly question as I know from long time back that Ford had different spec rear bumpers on Escort for Zeta engines. Basically a different sized cut-out for the exhaust. Didn't mean they weren't inter-changeable but that's how they decided it should be.

Most definite way to confirm would be if you could find a parts site which listed the bumper part numbers and what variants they were fitted to. I'd expect in this day and age they'd have a common rear bumper but you never know....

Thanks guys, we took a chance, drive the 150 or so mile round trip and bought the bumper- it certainly looks like it will fit and as a bonus it is already in the right colour (tonic metallic) will just need a can of the same colour paint to neaten it up and a further bonus it has the lower black bumper with it (never expected that as the bumper comes in 2 sections we thought we were just buying the upper body coloured part) and better yet it has the rear light clusters in- not sure if they work or not but if they do we have spare rear lights as well now :)

Oh and he only charged us £20 so it's a win, win, win situation!

Just got to take the old one off and put this on now- that's where the fun begins lol
