New Key

Featured Replies

When i bought my s-max it only came with 1 key. So I have been to the local ford dealer to get a new flip key. The one that they said is compatable is only half compatable. It can start the car no problem. The problem is that it will not oppereate the remote central locking. I have tried the steps on multiple sites. Any ideas ?? I'm suprised that they gave me the new design flip key, not the first design

Any ideas if the ebay keys will work with a new blade ??

Back to the dealership that sold you the key and ask them nicely to refund or, better, supply the correct one for your vehicle? It is possible the radio bit of the key is faulty? Or the battery in it has a 'remove before use tab' fitted?

It may be worth re-reading the section in the manual regarding coding extra keys in and changing the battery in cas that helps?

so did the dealer code the key to the pats system?

if so why didnt they program it to the central locking system?

take it back and ask them to do it,

but if they havnt coded the key ASK THEM NICELY as already said.

The greese monkey in the dealership tried for around 10mins in front of me trying to get the central locking sorted. The pats was the easy part. For some reason ford do not list the first style flip remote as compatible with my 56 plate. The greese monkey also said s-max keys were the standard keys when they first come out. No chance of a refund. The blade has been cut already. I suppose it'll do as a back up key

so what key type have you got? one of each style? does it go into learning mode?

The flip key they gave me is the new style which shocked me. Yes the car goes into learning mode after 4x back and forth mark 1 and mark 2 on the ignition

the garage has supplied you with either an incorrect key fob or non working fob, either way ,its down to them to sort it out. you paid good money for fully functional remote.

excuse the pun but there fobbing you off.

as far as i can see,if youve paid good money for a new key/cut/and programmed and they havnt done it then its down to them to ensure you get what you have paid for.

Will try tomorrow when they open. Anyone know if the mark one flip keys on ebay will work or will it be the same as

The grease monkey sounds like a complete tool, a spanner, if you will. Trying to screw you over a wrong key, that is blatant fobbing you off. I recommend having a word with his boss, see if you can lever a new key, as the one you have isn't the right one. It is their responsibility to ensure it is the right one for your car.

However. If your central locking is faulty (signal receiver or whatever) they cannot be held liable for it. I do not think this is the case though. Don't deal with the monkey, go to the organ grinder.
