Factory Approved Mods For The Fiesta St

Featured Replies

This is a rather unusual request for information regarding the Fiesta St. Unusual, as I am a South African owner of the latest Ecoboost version and am aware that in the UK Fiesta owners can have a factory approved "Mountune" engine performance enhancement kit fitted by a Ford Dealer. I made several enquiries locally to Ford South Africa as I believe the vehicle sold here is identical to the one sold in the UK. I have yet to elicit a response after two written enquiries and all that I managed to get from a call centre consultant at Ford was something to the effect that our vehicles are spec'd differently....

I would therefore appreciate it if somebody here can supply me with a contact person at Ford UK who can answer this question to my satisfaction.

Have the feeling that I have been fobbed off - and this is especially annoying as the two French hot hatches are now marginally quicker...!

Ford UK won't have anything to do with Ford SA, each region will have their own warranty process, in your case SA may be in the process of sorting that out or they may not do it at all.

The U.S has only recently given warranty approval, Australia are still waiting for it, owners were told it would be Q3 or 4 last year but, I don't think that has happened yet.

Email mountune direct, they may have a contact you can try in SA.

Your car is the same as ours, your trim levels are different, the only cars that are different are the U.S cars which run a differnt ecu.

You could order the MT215 and fit it yourself, a few in AUS have done this but, your warranty would be affected.

I was thinking that too, also if anything was to go wrong I think you would be able to fit the original airbox back on and restore the original map if you get the MTune device, or maybe something similar like Bluefin. Then Ford would be none the wiser ;)

Mtune doesn't work like that, once it's loaded the map it can't be removed.

^ Would other tools like Bluefin allow you to restore the original map?

Thanks guys! Think I will contact Mountune direct. Was suggested by someone locally that Ford S.A. may be considering their own performance package..which could explain their rather negative reaction.

Anybody think that next year might see Ford making some upgrades and a facelift as it would be 4 years since the launch?

Won't be a facelift of this model as it is already a facelift of the Mk7, Mk8 fiesta will be due or out by 2017.

Yes you can do that with bluefin otyer tuners you can move swap maps using your laptop and their cable.
