Remote Central Locking Issues

Featured Replies

I have a 2008 for focus and for the past 8 months my remote central locking hadn't been working. I can unlock the car manually and all doors unlock but I have to put the key in the ignition straight away or else the alarm goes off. I have tried changing the battery in my key, I've tried a few different sequences to try reprogramming my key and I've changed a fuse under the glove box. All have been unsuccessful. Any ideas anyone? Maybe another sequence people have had luck with for reprogramming?

Thanks! 😊

First have you checked the battery is the right way round and that the battery contacts are clean & making good contact?

It pays to eliminate the basics first before looking further.

If that is all ok then try this routine-

(Directly from the Focus handbook)

If that still doesn't help you may have a broken circuit in the key.

if this is the case then the easiest way to sort it out is buy a spare key off ebay and transplant the button side of the key onto the original blade and battery housing of the old key.

You need to be sure that the battery housing is kept as this is the side that holds the immobiliser transponder, without that in the key you won't be able to start the car.

Thankyou, I'll double check the battery and then five that sequence a go. If not ill try a new key!
