Windscreen Washer Not Working Correctly

Featured Replies

Hi wonder if anyone can help my windscreen washer is not working as it should when I select it to spray the windscreen I can hear the motor and a small jet pulses onto windscreen so I know the jets are not blocked but if I hold the switch in for a longer spray it dies to a trickle after about four seconds. I traced the pipe under bonnet where it enters jets on bonnet and took it off and tried using screen washer but exactly the same. The motor is working but any idea why the spray is stopping could it be the pump has gone and if so would it be covered by ford warranty as car is less than three year old (November 2012) and with MOT looming it will probably fail.

Could be a dirty filter between the pump and water tank.

Try taking the pipe apart from where it joins the first nozzle on the feed and blowing down it using a can of compressed air (the type used for cleaning computers).

Keep going for a good few seconds and test the wash again.

Anyone know how much a new windscreen washer pump is likely to cost tried the compressed air trick to no avail still not working
