No Codes

Featured Replies

My 2013 Galaxy has been flagging up 'engine malfunction' messages. No change to vehicle handling & it clears itself after the engine has been off for a while.

Just had it in to Fords & they plugged it in. Strangely no codes were found! Any ideas guys?

Can be because of a fuel filter? I had that issue just after I got my car, looked as though the lady that had it before me never changed it -_- It didn't throw a code at the time but I gave it a full service and it was fixed, after looking in the filter it was clear why it wasn't happy... I have a 2009 1.6 tdci fiesta

In this case no. I had a full service with fuel filter change last month. So did the car. Plus wouldn't a filter blockage flag up?

Filter blockage shiuld trigger low fuel pressure dtc, .is it 2.0 tdci?

I was surprised it didn't throw a code, I didn't change anything else other than new oil as the air filter looked new, but it didn't and has been fine ever since I changed that.

But fair enough, as we have already crossed that off the list maybe bad fuel? which might not throw a code? My mate had a split inter cooler hose and that caused it to go into limp mode, but that threw a code.

Other than that I can't think of anything else? Wish I could be of more help mate.

Cheers

@Iantt. Yes bud it certainly is

The only thing I know of that puts engine malfunction message on without a dtc ia a failed in range dpf sensor, that could cause your situation, , I ssume its still under warranty?

  • Author

It is but there's only 4k miles left on it.

If it keeps doing it , get ford to have amother look and mention the dpf sensor, they can check that out to rule that out.

Phoned them back & told them your theory. They want me to go to their main dealer in the next town when it happens again which is a bit rich. It was still on when I approached them last week but they were too busy! Hey ho we'll see how this pans out. My mate's a mechanic & he reckons £500 for a new one & it's not something he can do so fingers crossed it goes before my warranty runs out

Sensor isnt expensive £80 approx, not saying thats what it is but I know for sure it can fail without any dtcs, and puts message on dash. Why it does I dont know.

Hats off to you sir that's exactly what it was. I was getting a bit uncomfortable as the mileage only has 1700 left for warrantee. What will Friday nights lotto numbers be?

7, 22,33,35,42,49, thats saturdays, but dont tell everyone. Lol

Hmmmm maybe I was a bit hasty. They replaced it on Monday & now it's back again!!!!

A lightbulb moment!!! When I took it back & lost another best part of a day in takings they phoned to say............they hadn't replaced the part after all. So I'd paid for 3 tyres which took 8 hours to fit!!!!

All done now though.....apparently. I don't really want to berate Ford as an owners club member but they really p'd me off.
