Airbag Light

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

Another topic for fault codes.

Took my galaxy to my local independant garage recently because airbag warning light is on.

Stays on does not flash.

He could not not turn if off.

Auto electrician failed to turn it off.

Ford main dealer failed.

Came up with OX520-25 or 0X520-25 fault codes.

They suggested taking it to a V.W. main dealer?

Anyone got any ideas please?

Thankyou

Rob.

Bearing in mind the Galaxy is basically a VW Sharan (and Seat Alhambra) that may not be a daft idea.

It could be a couple of things that are known to be problematic (before doing any airbag/pretensioner checking disconnect the battery and wait 20 minutes - unless you like black eyes and broken fingers).

1/ Belt pretensioner loom - check under the front seats for connector blocks (if pretensioners are fitted).

Unplug/plug the connectors a few times to clear any crud and reseat the pins.

2/ Steering wheel airbag clock spring.

Remove drivers airbag and check for damage to connectors etc.

as above,

you have a pm. ;)

I had a similar issue shortly after buying the car, basically the connection that goes into the airbag curtain was flaky. My auto electrician pulled the connection out, re-soldered the connection, then filed it down to give it a better connection. Problem solved.

that error code does not appear to be a standard error code, so not sure how it was read, but if you read the OBD codes with an appropriate reader, we could help more.
