Focus Cabriolet Multiple Problems

Featured Replies

My wife's cabriolet has recently experienced multiple faults all occuring at more or less the same time, some of which I suspect are related.
the only possible cause was a very minor bump to the front a few weeks earlier. no obvious damage

1) roof does not work. the windows do not even retract the usual tiny amount prior to the roof lifting. when pressed up you do get a relay clicking.
2) reverse parking sensors don't work (no beeping) nor does the reversing lights
3) bonnet warning on dash. tried shorting the plug in catch but no effect
4) washer pump does not work, not even a hum from them. ( because it thinks bonnet is up perhaps?)
5) lights do not flash when key fob is used to lock doors but does flash when unlocking
6) airbag light is on.
7) engine light is on.
8) frost warning light is on(in July!) temp not reading anything.

I'm wondering if the revese parking sensors would prevent the roof from opening as it thinks its too close to an obstacle behind? luggage cover is on of couse

Any thoughts on the above would be much appreciated!

Check the footwell fusebox for loose plugs/cables..

They can become unseated if a stray foot makes contact.

Might be worth removing the front bumper for a good look. Ive heard of something similar and it was a cable behind the bumper got damaged causing all kinds of problems.

sure enough the trim cover for the passenger side fusebox which has long fallen off exposing the fusebox on which the wiring plug locking clamp was open! this has solved all the problems bar the airbag light and the engine light.

plugging in a scanner shows that there is a fault in the ambient air temp circuit. I have cleared the code as advised but don't know if this is anything to do with the outside air temp?

does anyone know what may be the problem with the airbag or is this a job best left for a main dealer?

thanks for the help.
