Fog Light Flashes When Indicator Is On And Brake Pedal Is Pressed

Featured Replies

hi all,

I'm new to the forum and sorry for the lack of introduction but I'm having abit of a panic.

I'm selling my 2007 Fiesta Style which I have owned since new and has been good to me over the years but it is time to move on. I have a buyer and the sell is all agreed, on the condition I get it MOT'd first so he knows its roadworthy.

The MOT is booked for tomorrow morning and this evening I took the car round the block, checked over all the lights etc. All was well until i noticed the fog light symbol flashing on the screen was I was indicating. I did some diagnostics and worked out it happens when the main lights are on, and the indicator is on. The main bulb pulses and the indictator is flashing but not as bright as usual. If i then turn the fog lights or press the brake pedal then they flash even quicker and less brightly.

This only happens on the drivers side rear of the car.

I'm just baffled as I havnt changed any bulbs recently and individually the lights work fine. It's only when 2 or more of the lights are on at once that the flashing starts.

Have anyone else ever heard of this or come across this themselves?
I know its probably going to fail the MOT anyway but I need to get this fixed and sold ASAP.

Thanks in advance

That's an earthing issue. Best thing to do is remove the instrument cluster and check the wiring health.
