Odd Tapping/rattling Mondeo 1.8 Duratec H E

Featured Replies

Hi guys, sorry to be a pain, (again), but after successfully fitting the new thermostat to the car, (it was fine for a day or two after), now, when running there is an odd rattle/tapping noise coming from the right hand side of the engine as viewed from under the bonnet.

It seems to be coming from the big pipe that is just to front right of the manifold, above the egr valve, (which was renewed a few weeks ago).

I have been told it could be the swirl flaps???/ What are they, what do they do, and can or should they be removed?

If they can be removed, is it a job I can tackle myself, or best left to those in the know?

Or could the noise be something else?

Regards

Pete
