S-max Engine Malfunction

Hi all

My wife's S-Max 07 Titanium came to a grinding halt today, and refused to start showing the engine malfunction error on the dash.

I went and checked through the DTC codes and found C41568 which I believe is to do with the ABS module. Could this have caused the car to cut out or will there be some other more terminal reason that I need to get a code reader for? It juddered on the way home over a 40 minute drive on Sunday but had been fine ever since and we put it down to being stuck in traffic and being hot.

also, will this fault scanner work http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stoga-Diagnostic-Scanner-CAN-Bus-Diagnose/dp/B005FOIC3I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1439472477&sr=8-1&keywords=obd+scanner I don't intend to use it often but it'll cost less than going to the garage!

Any guidance would be great

Further update. The car started again! I was checking fuses etc and everything looked ok, and thought I'd try it and see what happened! So, now doubly puzzled!!
