Galaxy 2002 1.9tdi Intermittent Loss Of Power / Chugging

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm new to club so hello all

I've recently bought a Galaxy but have noticed that I sometimes get an issue with the engine loosing pulling power and the engine chugs when stationary, if I stop and turn the engine off then restart it seems to solve the issue

Does anyone know why this is or has experienced it themselves?

Thanks

d

There used to be issues with the maf sensor around that age. Not saying thats your issue but something to bear in mind when trying to fix it, goes into a limp mode until ign off and on again then would run ok again for a while.

Have you tried reading the codes (if any), you will need VCDS (vag-com) to read them properly. I had a simular problem on mine in that sometimes it would intermitently lose power and then kick in again, this turned out to be a faulty cam sensor. Mine sometimes gets a bit chuggy on tickover when cold but this normally happens on colder mornings and when it hasnt had a long run for a while. I use a fuel cleaner every so often which helps a lot.
