Fusion 1.4 Petrol Durashift Shudder

Featured Replies

Hello, new to this forum which looks like a great resource.

I've been searching around for some time with this issue, several near issues around but nothing I can see fits the problem exactly.

I have a 1.4 durashift 2005, 68k, only had it for about 6 months as a second car.

It has a judder / banging when pulling away from rest in 1st gear. It is most noticeable just after a cold start up when pulling away, particularly under load, I take a left turn uphill just near to my house but seems to settle down when normal conditions but if it gets hot in traffic seems to come on again and in that instance on normal flat ground when you give it a bit of acceleration from start. Only happens in first gear, if you put into second and pull away you don't get it but then obviously you don't get the power in or speed.

Anyone experience this and have any resolution or input?

I've seen a few similar posts around with possibilities of steering / suspension, engine mounts, brakes sticking, misfire / coil packs etc.

All help to pinpoint where to look is much appreciated.

Hi there,

This is exactly how my clutch started to go, it is now totally gone and needs replacing...about six months from noticing first symptoms of shudder.
