I completely agree with what you say. But its like the old health and safety - it can only be applied as far as reasonably possible. If we dropped every road that has bends and dips from 60 to 30 the country would come to a standstill, never mind us bikers would be raging

Come down that road again tonight just to try and put me back in the same position, one car away up ahead. It's very very difficult to see those cones from a distance in the dark, never mind the trench!

Glad you never hit them again then mate!:lol:

Complaint letters are currently ongoing, will have them finished tomorow and sent off Tuesday.

I've never really had much faith in them from previous dealings with them, just lately it seems there is only one thing they are interested in and it's not road safety or the wellbeing of motorists.

Damn, thats not good Stef. I hope you get it sorted.

I had to go to a wedding yesterday and only one of the double gates was open for the entrance and due to where i came from the turning angle was really tight and i didnt want to curb my wheels...only to hit the unopened gate..i thought i'd hit the rear quarter and was ranting at the car park attendant who quickly opened the other gate.

i parked up and had a look and thought i'd escpaed a big bill as i could only see some scratches on the door handle....then i looked at the wheel to find it had been scuffed. ruined my mood for the whole damn day.

luckily for me i will be able to repair it myself (have paint left over from when i refubed them) but i have driven very carefully for the last few months and looked after the wheels keeping them clean, waxed, sealed etc only for ME to hit the damn gate

next time i am taking the wife's car!

What an ache! Hopefully you get some compo out of it, you got any pics of your cars battle scars?

Have you been able to establish who's responsibility it is?

I called the council yesterday to report a need for yellow lines on our industrial estate after people have started to leave their brains at home and double park on a blind bend on the main through road.

I got passed between about 4 departments, all convinced it was nothing to do with them, until I finally got back to the highways agency (for a second time) and was told they would put in a report to our local community officer....

But enough about my problems, lol. Hope you get it sorted and get something out of whichever department's responsibility it is...

Hi all,

Well I'm on holiday at the moment. It's not been a very great holiday in fairness. Casualty the other night now I have 2 damaged wheels! Yup that's 2 damaged wheels! One of which was just repaired!!

Was across to the holy island this morning and hit a few pot holes. Couple of them totally unavoidable because the road is falling to bits and oncoming traffic.

So 30mph down the road from the farm - some will know it. I hit a pothole, didn't really think much of it as it wasn't too bad. Parked the car, come back 2.5 hours later to find one flat tyre on the rear. A bit annoyed but I parked the car over a footpath in the car park and changed it. Got back up the road to the caravan and thought I better check my newly fixed wheel! Oh dear, another big flat spot!

Luckily I have a set of steel wheels with winter tyres but they are about 100 miles away so my dad is bringing them and wheel nuts down tonight.

So 2 alloys need repairing and certainly one needs powder coated - the rear 2 wheels were due to get done and new tyres fitted in the winter but it looks like one is getting done now.

Is it me or am I having a nightmare just now! In 4.5 years of ownership I've never had a damaged wheel or even a flat for that matter, now I've had 2 damaged wheel in as many weeks really.

Ah man i feel for you. I hope you took pics of the potholes so you can make a claim against the council.

I only scraped my wheel and was fuming but your issues are so much worse.

You might as well just get a set of Focus RS 19's now that you have 2 knackered wheels! They look good on the Mondeo ST. You will need hubcentric 15mm spacers too but your wife doesnt need to know that!;)

I told him his luck is heading my way - far down south! lol

Your lucky your dad was willing to do the drive though Stef, many in your situation would have been stuffed well and truly! not many have two spare wheels, let alone someone willing to do the journey to bring them,

It could have been worse, you could have been on the back of a lorry heading back to your home on the back of an AA truck! :p

Very true James, I have relay cover aswell with the AA but it really would have been a last resort. 90 miles from home.

Wheels are back with local powder coating place again  will have them back by Friday. The freshly coated wheel he reckons he can sort without damaging the finish so fingers crossed. That just leaves me one alloy to get done now.

Yeah it's not the greatest end or mid point to a holiday really!
