Fiesta Mk6 Gauges Stay Put When Turned Off

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I am no mechanic, I am a have a go DIY tryer

I recently changed my ABS module as the speedo etc stopped working and the abs warning light was lit.

This has now rectified the problem however since I took things apart the gauges on my instrument cluster stay put when they used to sweep right down when I turned off the car.

When I restart the car they then move to where they used to rest before springing back into life. Its as if they are resetting.

My trip meter/mpg/miles loses its memory every time I turn off the car

The radio time and date also resets on every start.

Whilst driving everything works as it should.

I took off the battery to maybe see if there is a loose earth? Everything looks tight and in place. I checked all the fuses relating to the cluster in the passenger footwell .... all good. I even resorted to removing every single fuse just to rule it out, No joy

So now I am here hoping that it is some tiny issue that I have overlooked. Surely it cant be that bad as I only removed the battery and pushed things aside to gain access

Thanks very much in advance for any ideas ..... you tell me I will try it

Have you got a fault code reader that can access the ABS system? If not get it to a garage and get it checked.

Have a look at the ABS relay supposivily.. Just seen it on another forum

Thanks for the input

Code reader pulls up P0098 Temp Sensor, C1145 Speed sensor front right wheel. None of which have any relation to the gauges or MPG etc I dont think. Pretty sure they were there when we read it before the ABS module was replaced and none of this was happening before then.

What I need to find out really is what process do the gauges go through in order to rest at bottom when the car is turned off and why have they stopped doing this? Also is there any other fuses elsewhere relating to the cluster that I havent checked yet?

I was also thinking that maybe there is some sort of permanent live to the cluster (like the radio for preset stations etc) that keeps this MPG and trip info, if so where does it come from?

It isnt a mojor issue it is more annying than anything

Hi, I'm having the issue but not with the abs. My trip resets and other things you mentioned, what was the issue please.

I had this problem once. All the fuses were ok but one had been put back in the wrong place.
