Bulb Change...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I want to change the whole of my front lights bar the indicators.

Looking for a nice bright white/bulb colour.

Please can someone give me links, bulb sizes, best product to buy, just as much info as possible please.

Thanks in advance :) :D

Hi and welcome. I'll repeat my usual answer to this question :)

I went for Philips Crystalvision for the dipped beam and Osram Nightbreaker for the full beam and fogs. You could go Nightbreakers all round because they are very bright, but a little yellow in colour which is why I went for the Crystalvisions (which aren't technically road legal).

Other good road legal options are Osram Cool Blue and Philips Whitevision, which are not quite as white as the Crystalvisions, and are less bright than the Nightbreakers but a bit whiter.

Then of course there are HIDs if you want to go all the way. If you choose the colour temperature then 5k will be nice and white, 6k will be a bit blue-ish, but I wouldn't go any higher than that.

I would change the indicator bulbs for chromed ones while you're at it just to make them look better, e.g. Osram Diadem.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. Appreciate it.

Have you done this to your car? If so, can I see a pic please?

Here are a couple of photos I took after fitting the Crystalvisions, and you can see the chromed indicator bulb in the 2nd photo.

Thank you.

Looks amazing. Will sort my own hopefully this weekend. :D

Why are crystalvisions not Road legal?

Because they are too blue.

4300k is the legal kelvin level for street bulbs but the colour is the problem.

I thought it was just because they haven't gone through (or passed) the required tests, but maybe that's because of the colour. And yes you can see some "blueness" to the edge of the light depending on what it's shining on, so maybe that's the problem. Although overall the colour is more yellow than blue, not even completely white.

The thing is any HIDs that come standard on so many cars these days have a higher colour temp, so the rules are a bit confusing.

I just want to say this so I sound smart (if I use the right words).

Is the blue outline not diffraction due to the cut off? ;)

I may be wrong.. sciences weren't my strongpoint

^ Yes I think you're probably right about the diffraction. I should have thought of that myself, I'm sure I did something about that in school / college lol.
