This is a long shot, I know, but I am trying anything right now.

From 2008 to 2013 we owned the above mentioned vehicle, having sold her because of an expired MOT and poor financial situation. I now want her back, but it isn't that simple.

The DVLA website has no record of the registration mark, which I initially thought to mean it had been scrapped, but then I checked the registrations of a few vehicles we've had before that I know are scrapped and they showed up, so I'm not so sure. I think that the registration number may have changed (personalised plate?) and that the car is still on the road.

It was sold to people in Aberdeen (or surrounding area) in February 2013 and they seemingly MOTd it immediately after taking ownership and sold it on around 2 weeks later. I found this information here: http://www.ukvehicle.com/P719ASA/

As I say, this is a long shot, but who knows, maybe the new owner (if he/she cared enough to change the reg no) is a member here, or somebody knows of them. It's worth a try at least.

You may be asking "why is he so bothered about an old MK4 Fiesta?", but if you think that then you'll never understand. It was just a piece of metal, but it is a piece of metal I'd like back.

Well that's it, but as I say we've scrapped cars before and I can still put the information into the DVLA database today and find the details, it just states that they are untaxed and have no valid MOT. P719ASA brings up nothing at all, so I think the registration itself has been removed from the vehicle.

That said, it could still be scrapped since then, but I'm hoping that it is still out there somewhere.

Well, I have closure now at least.

Decided to spend £3.99 on a history check and it turns out that the car was scrapped on 11th November 2014 (I've attached the file but not sure if it will work).

At least I can stop searching now, it is now either in pieces fitted to various other Fiestas across the UK or has been crushed to a cube.

Either way, I'll never get her back again. Oh well!

I just wish I knew what exactly happened.

When it was sold in February 2013 (only a couple of weeks after we sold it with no MOT) it had a fresh 12 months MOT, which would have expired in February 2014. In March '14 it was sold to a new owner and then sold again in June '14. The question is, was it MOTd again and sold as a driving vehicle or sold as spares/repairs?

If it was never put through another MOT further to February 2014 then it is quite possible it was just scrapped due to underbody corrosion, which was an on-going issue with the car.

Should it have been re-MOTd in 2014 though that would mean that when it was scrapped in November it would have still been legal to drive for another three months at least, so that would lead me to believe it was scrapped due to an accident or major mechanical failure.

Either way, I'll never know what happened. It just saddens me that a faithful vehicle lost her life either to corrosion or careless driving. We had 5 great years with her, and I'll always remember that car and the good it did to our lives.

Ah Vauxhall. 18 years behind as usual!

15 years is a good lifespan for a Fiesta, and no-one without sentimental attachment is going to repair corrosion if it has taken hold, especially on a 15 year old Fiesta, when there are others on the market cheap enough. I know the feeling though, I had a beauty of a 3 series, and foolishly got rid of it. My brother saw it a month later all beat up. That hurt.

But then I have also seen a old man throw over a grand at patching up the rotten floor on a Rover 213, it was a complete dog. It barely scraped a MOT after the welding was done, and would have been lethal again in a week.

Sometimes it is just better to look back with fondness then move on.
