Not a good day up here in Wallasey.. a on duty police officer has been killed, now a murder investigation...

Apparently a burgulary involving a red Mitsubishi stolen from an estate agents over the bridges in Birkenhead was being followed by police..at the m53 approach a stinger was to be deployed,seeing this the driver of the stolen Mitsubishi has mounted a central divider and run down one of two police officers who were stood on the divider.....i hope when these lowlifes are caught they throw away the key!!!!!!

RIP indeed, I'm 100% they'll catch them & with luck they'll "slip" 😈 on the way into the back of the police van.

The death penalty should hold when anyone is murdered not just a copper.

Sad news that, Just read a bit about it, Hate to hear of anyone dying at work, on the job. Guy had a young family too. How do you tell kids their dad is not coming home from work. Thoughts are with the guys family and friends and work mates. Hopefully they get the guy that did this.

Crazy. Willing to kill someone rather than face charges for burglary.

I heard that on the radio coming home from work tonight. Tragic indeed.

Apparently these thieves had over £30,000 on board. they managed to open a safe that was holding rent money from rented properties in the area...

Thirty grand for a life...was that this poor guys worth...

Very sad, saw it on the news this morning including a photo of him with his family (had 2 young girls). It made me angry to be honest, but I don't agree with the death penalty, that doesn't solve anything (although I wouldn't blame anyone close to the victim for wanting that).

Yeah they would have to have something seriously wrong with them if they can sleep at night with all their money, knowing that it came at the cost of a man's life.

I'm resisting posting any long messages on this thread for fear of saying something very hazardous to my career.

They've got to change the way these stinger things are deployed. You can't expect a criminal to obligingly drive directly over them and just allow themselves to get caught without swerving or trying to avoid it, it's too dangerous. Frankly I'm surprised this hasn't happened before, if you stand in the way of a speeding fleeing vehicle and throw an obstacle in it's path, they're going to try and avoid it and there's only one way to go - where your standing.

Maybe they need to be re-designed so they can be placed at the side of the road and be deployed remotely.

It's a tragedy but it's no worse because it was a Cop. When they're caught - and they will be - I hope they spend the rest of their life rotting in jail. Capital punishment is too easy.

The issue with spending the rest of their lives rotting in gaol is the fact that they won't, because U.K. prisons are holiday camps & furthermore there's the not so small matter of the cost of housing these scum at circa £1000 per week, every week.
