Hi guys,

I have the steering rack removed from a face lift s-max , with elctro hydraulic power steering pump.

The car got a prang and the power steering isn't working. There's a slight play in the right hand side/ pinion side of the rack on left hand steering lock. I got a second hand replacement and it seems similar.

Passengers side of the rack doesn't have the same play ,probably due to the pinion on the drivers side.

Have any of you come across this or is it a characteristic of these racks when there's no fluid pressure.
