Please, What Is Wrong With My Car ? Clunking When Comibg Off Clutch

Featured Replies

Please help me in trying to figure out the cause of my problem.

My car is a 2006 mk2 focus sport1.8 TDCI. It has 134,000 on the clock almost

When accelerating I sometimes hear a clunk noise between gear changes, usually lower gears .

At idle if I press clutch pedal in, then take my foot off clutch I hear a clunk noise, coming from front end. When driving at speed and take car out of gear I cannot hear clunk when coming off clutch, only seem to be able to hear it at idle or sometimes during gear change.

Transmission light is currently on too,

Car goes into each gear excellent.

Please, do you have any ideas what this issue may be?

Thanks to all

Could be backlash in the gearbox due to a worn synchro or output shaft in the gearbox.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backlash_(engineering)

If above, does that mean a gearbox out job ?
