Undecided On Focus!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone I'm looking for some advice, am currently driving a 08 Focus 1.8 zetec climate but looking to change to a diesel Focus, only problem is deciding which one, a 1.8tdci or 2.0tdci engine & the Titanium model or the Zetec S, trying to weigh up the pro's & con's of different spec models & reliability of the engines, if anyone has any experience with these models your input would be appreciated... Many thanks!

How many miles do you do per year? What is your daily commute?

depends whats more important to you toys and comfort or the sporty appearance?

I average 8-10k miles a year which isn't bad, I had a diesel before I bought the Focus which I liked but had probs with it (it wasn't a Ford!) & the difference in mpg is high, just trying to make choice on which engine size to get, dependent on that will push me either way on model choice.

to be honest, that mileage is quite low, so buying into a diesel could be more of a step in the wrong direction. If you are only doing short runs, you would get better fuel economy from a petrol, and if you dont hit the motorways often enough, the DPF system would deteriorate.

If you are dead set on it though, I would say go with the 2.0, and as Ross said, Toys versus Sporty look is the real debate, I would personally always go with the Titanium if I could.

You can easily add the zetec s bits to the titanium if you wanted. But not as easy the other way around

The 1.4TDCi, 1.6TDCi and 2.0TDCi engines are Citröen/Peugeot engines a quote joint venture,

They also have a DPF

Your much better off with a 1.8TDCi because it's a Ford engine,

Blank the EGR valve and the turbo will last longer, they don't have a brittle turbo but egr is Best blanked in any diesel engine.

The 1.8TDCi doesn't have a DPF neither and can be remapped to give similar power to the 2.0TDCi stock performance win/win

+1

Go for the Titanium spec as it's got all the toys,

I built my own ZetecS lowering springs and body kit fit straight on
