Eco Button And Ambient Light

Bit like the defeat device on VWs...

So if VW had put a button in their cars which activated the defeat device would that have made it legal?

No it wouldn't

I'm just saying that VW's cheat device did a similar thing to performance as the eco button will do, but the Ford will have to have been tested with the eco button off.

My Dad's Audi has something similar in a way- he has several options on how his car performs. He can put it in several modes which alters the cars responses and ultimately MPG

surprised how little info there is on this button as it seams it has the potential to fix the biggest complaint on the ecoboost, fuel economy hope my new fiesta tit x will have it. can see it being quite useful for town driving

we dont complain though when we have enough power to overtake Cjay

Mines all boost and no eco.

Mines all boost and no eco.

The way it should be :)

The Eco Boost button will turn off the stop start function which cuts the engine when you are stationary and in neutral.

why would you want to disable start stop it restarts so quickly. it doesn't cause any inconvenience whilst driving and saves money and the environment.

I've said before, I tend to keep cars >10 years. Over that time, using start/stop, i'd need a new starter ring.

Also, it delays Santa Pod type launches from the lights ;)

I'd be interested to know how the fuel saving compared to the cost of a new starter ring.

Going to depend on mileage, type of journeys, etc though...

I'm not sure why the Eco button would turn off the auto start/stop when that button is next to the eco button but I'll try it out and see if it does.

Regarding the Eco button, it defaults to Eco and you have to switch it off.

Would only expect that on an econetic model.

Would hate a car which defaulted to rubbish performance that had to be turned off everytime.

Mines the 1.0 125 Ecoboost and it's the default state, I don't know if you can change it in your settings. I've just checked and you can't change the settings, you have to press the button which extinguishes the light and turns off Eco.

Eco button been on transit for quite a while, but not seen it on fiesta yet.

Sounds like the killjoy button

Luckily dont have an eco button on my fiesta.. lucky really as 1.0 running 180bhp isn't really eco...

I didn't think I would but I like having the option of the Eco button. It gives me surprisingly good MPG during the week when I'm commuting to/from work. When I switch it off (usually at the weekend or a nice midnight run) the car surprises me every time. The smiles per miles are worth every penny.

Got mine yesterday with the Eco button on, it's only fitted to the 1.0 ecoboost 125 model, it does reduce power and torque a little but still makes progress when you put your foot down so not as bad as I thought, also it defaults to what ever setting you had it in when you turned the ign off, so if you don't use the Eco button it won't turn on until you press it, you can turn it on and off while your driving at any time, it's a good addition I think :)
