St180 (Mk7) Modifications

Featured Replies

Hey everyone!

I recently bought a ST180 and if there is one thing on my bucket list is to modify a car properly!

I have a few modifications in mind but seeing as I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to modifying I need some expert help.

I plan to remap and add an induction kit to help and increase the performance of the ST. Now I know both of these mods have an effect on the engine and power so do I need to do one mod before the other to get the best out of both or doesn't it matter?

Before you think that a newbie is going to start doing all the mods in his garage don't worry, I plan to take it to experienced professionals.

Any advice will be greatly helpful!

Whatever mods you do, make sure that the remap is the last mod' as anything added after the remap will not be beneficial

Thanks for the advice!

So any mod which can affect engine performance (intercooler, cat-back exhaust, induction kit etc) should all be done before remapping?

Yes

Great stuff!

Thanks again :)

No problem :)

Depends what type of map you're going for,

A generic map like Revo has been made to work with or without an induction kit etc, a custom will be bespoke to your car with whatever mods you have already fitted.

Most stage 1s don't require any hardware changes eg induction kit.

Have a look at Revo, Peron, pumaspeed etc, you can go stage 1 add an induction kit, decat/sportscat, interccoler when you're ready and then upgrade to the stage 2 map for a smaller fee.

I don't know what your budget is, but if you plan to mod an ST, you must be pretty flush? . . . I'd certainly look to to get a full system exhaust and I think there's this engine mount upgrade you can get too. Also upgrading the intercooler would be a good idea.

Anyway, I don't even own one, nore can I afford one. I am living my dream through you my friend. . . You will have a 10 second car in no time :D

I was thinking of getting a Mountune remap as I've heard they go hand in hand when getting a ST anyway? Like I said I'm a newbie so if you can offer any suggestions I would be grateful. I was only going to go as far as Stage 1 mods anyway, & then maybe have a look at Stage 2 mods in the future..

Am I going about this all wrong then? 🙁

Just had a look online at a Miltek full system exhaust... Never heard a sound so sexy!! Haha may look into having one on the ST! :D

It's all down to the "personal preference" also depends if you want to keep the warranty or your not to bothered about it as the Mp215 kit is the only one you can get that will keep your warranty in tact. If not then it's all down to yourself to wear you go as there are quite a few places now offering different maps for the st.

Don't forget visual mods as well. Just have a look around the forum at some of the fiesta build threads and choose ones that you like

Yeah I got a lot of visual mods in mind, & been looking at the 'build threads' on the forum & got loads more ideas that I want to do to the ST. Now it's just saving up & buying them lol once I get up & running I'll start my own thread & everyone is more than welcome to criticise... Haha

No criticism jack just different opinions we can't all like the same things and ultimately if you like it that's all that matters

Yeah I know. I have got some great visual mods in mind, such as vinyl wrapping & changing colour of the badges etc. As soon as I get it done I'll post them on here. It will be nice to get other people's opinions :)
