Usb Not Recognised

Featured Replies

Bought a 64gb USB memory stick. Its formatted into fat32 format and its still not being recognised by Ford Sync.

Anyone else having/solved this problem?

Had an issue with a 16GB SanDisk mini usb stick that i bought for mine so it took up less room. I have the same problem with it, formatted correctly but just said unsupported / unrecognised usb device. Seem to confuse the system every time i plug it in as well.

But my standard Sandisk USB drive works perfectly fine

I had a similar problem, left it for a few minutes and it sorted itself out. YMMV.

Yeah tried that winemart. Still not working. Its the small mini usb like Jazman had. So going to give another one a try

You could try a master reset in Sync settings. It worked for me when it failed to recognise my usb after I had removed it to add more files.

Nice one Dave... shall give it a try tonight

Its the USB stick it doesny like

Might need re-formatting, possibly the allocation size it doesn't like.

exFAT should also be recognised iirc and is a better filesystem for USBs if it works.

It was originally exFAT then changed it to FAT32, didn't work on either formats. Tried Sync Master Reset, still no joy. Still keeps saying USB not recognised.

What allocation size would you recommend?

Either default or 4096 should work.

Is it a decent make or a cheap job from China? There is a chance it just may not like it.

Have you tried a different USB to make sure it is not the car?

Yeah, car reads my phone as mass storage ok so no issues with USB. And its a Sandisk USB from argos so shouldnt be any issues there too

I plug the one I have in and it doesnt even register that its been connected now, weird. It works on everything else though the USB drive so its not a major loss. Mines one of those ones that you can use with smart phones, one end is micro usb and the other is standard usb 3.0

I have tried a 16gb stick in my fiesta the other day and got the same message. Thats formatted to NTFS. Then plugging in the 8gb fat32 that gave the same error message even though it was working before.

Plugged it back into the pc. Took it back to the car and it works again.

Is this a NTFS problem? Also whats the max size you can put in?

God knows what it is.... youd have thought it was quite simple to get the stereo to read a simple USB stick. Getting quite frustrated by it now. Luckily spotify works perfectly on it

Hello,

I just bought a 2019 Fiesta and I formatted my usb drive to FAT32 but the car won’t reckognize it. It’s brand new so I don’t feel I should have to do a master reset. On the scroll under media USB is grayed our and when I do a voice command saying usb it says none is found. Any help would be appreciated.

thank You and Happy New Year

Have you tried the "other USB" socket and do other USB sticks work?

Been using the same 8gb SanDisk stick in all our Fords for over 10 years with no problems (2 Fiesta Mk 7, Focus Mk 2.5, C-Max Mk 2 and now Fiesta Mk 8). Oddly the SEAT Leon we had for 3 years wouldn't accept it.

I tried 3 different usb untill it reconised one...Lucky for me it was my Iron Man with blue led eyes love it...i think it has to be 2.o or lower...
