2004 Zetec Petrol - Anyone Encountered This Fault?

Featured Replies

Car would start this morning after a particularly cold night - the first night with a frosted screen.

I can hear the starter motor powering up but it sounds slightly slower and "different." Obvious thing would be that the battery has died but I've had a battery die before and this seems different - having tried to start the car a few times, it isn't losing any additional power. When I start it, the glowplug light flashes at the same speed as the engine but nothing happens and it goes off immediately once I let go of the key. Once I let go of the key, I can hear the doors try and unlock (already unlocked) and the dials flick back & forth really quickly on the dash for around a second or two...

Any suggestions before getting it towed would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Sounds like a low battery to me. Just because it isn't getting weaker each time you crank doesn't mean it isn't low/dying.

It is a good bet to get a new battery when winter starts anyway so I'd do that. Should solve your problem.

Ford's have frenetic electrics at the best of times, let alone when there is a power drop.

Wait a minute, the WHAT? Petrol engines don't have glow plugs...
