GMX
Does anyone on here use CoPilot Premium, the paid for app? If so, what are pros and cons? The reviews I've read can't fault it; but some may well have been written by staff or employees of ALK Technologies. Was looking for a live traffic sat nav app, the free ones, whilst functional seem to have flaws the paid for ones don't.

Was looking for a live traffic sat nav app, the free ones, whilst functional seem to have flaws the paid for ones don't. Yup, I've got it mate. Use it on my iPad with my BadElf GPS dongle. Makes a fantastic SATNAV. And well the CoPilot App has its good days and bad days. Haven't used it in a while, but when I have, it's been for long journeys to Scotland, Wales etc... It's brilliant for the simple stuff (straight forward directions, motorway driving etc...) but it does have its moments that make you say "what the F**k" depending on where you are in the U.K (busy, non-busy, well populated, barely/non-populated areas) The app works and relies on the users of it. I read once that wherever you go it tracks the user and remembers the details about the route and uploads them to CoPilots servers which, once done, those roads "work" for other users. So if you find yourself down a country lane and your CoPilot app shows you in the middle of a field it's either because nobody with CoPilot has been down that route or CoPilot workers don't think that anyone will use that particular route... Or something along those lines. I've also found that when I first got it and set my iPad sat-nav up. I set a destination and knew the route like the back of my hand... Co-Pilot decided that it would take me a route that took an extra 5-10 minutes... So be wary of that too... Regarding the live traffic function, I can't say I've used it. And if I have it was too long ago for me to give you my opinion... However, if you haven't already got the app, it does have LOADS of functions to play around with. -different voices -edit trips-stops along the way -save trips -set favourites -music playing through bluetooth into car while app is running (so the music plays from your device while the app is saying "turn right" 馃槈 A few other things... Can't remember all of them! All-in-all, I've used it plenty of times, it is a fantastic app, but don't be surprised if it does take you off-road or a route you would never take in a million years. Hope that helps... Hahaha馃槀馃構
GMX
Thanks James :) That's exactly what I wanted to know, a review from someone who actually uses it
Cookey09
No worries mate, I was like you before I get the whole Sat-Nav setup. Sceptical about the TRUE performance of it, it isn't too bad, but if you are on a journey and your common sense/knowledge thinks"hold on a minute, I think I'm going the wrong way" you probably are... Or... You'll be back on the right track 10-15 minutes down the line. 馃槀馃構
1.6 tdci zetec s
I installed the free app called here, so far it's been excellent, even did a run to Bridlington from Leeds using it. It even flagged every speed camera along my route, A64, A166. This app was mentioned on one of these forums as being a solid reputation and reliable. It's used in high end cars, as there satnav software. Highly recommend it.聽
