Well I am 1 and half steps closer to getting my result. Got both a set of red bulbs for the footwell which work now and look great. The LED strip also arrived but unfortunately the end that inserts into the LED part is broken. It still works puting whats left in but when its inserted into the dash its too short to be able to attach the led part :( Will look at it again tomorrow to see in better light.

Try reattaching the broken part using a bendy straw as a bandage.

Glue won't work as it will block the light.

That's pretty much what the sender suggested, though he said tubeing (not sure what exactly) and tape. The ends are both uneven so it's obvious splintered so not sure if that would work or not. If I do use some form of tube it would need to hold it together very tightly. A straw I think would be too wide.

Well managed to get it working without joining the 2 broken pieced together. Took a lot of effort and sweary words but its in. Looks great I think. Getting a tenner back from the seller so all in it cost me £25. Not too bad me thinks. Thanks for all the help and advice from you all, much appreciated.

My next task I am thinking about is changing the courtesy light unit to one with the ambient lighting LEDs that shine onto the gear stick. Does anyone one know if the ZS is already wired to take this or do you need a new feed?

If it's like the light I had fitted in my mk2 Focus there will be a small bayonet connector on one side of the light unit.

If there isn't already a wire in place then you will need to run one down to the headlight switch and connect it to a suitable wire there.

On the Focus it was pin 16 which was the switch feed to the numberplate lights (allowing the ambient lights to activate with the sidelight & full headlight settings) .

The wire is there, its taped to the headlining you ay just have to feel around for it.
