How Do I Open The Bonnet If It Will Not Open From The Internal Pull Leaver?

Featured Replies

I have a Ford Fiesta L X hatchback 2003 and today I needed to open the bonnet for access to the engine but when I pulled the bonnet lever inside the car on the passenger side it no longer activates the release for the bonnet lock and seems to have no tension on it at all. Any ideas as to the problem and is there another way to open the bonnet or do I need to take it to a mechanic?

most likely a snapped cable. check if the cable has seperated from the handle, if so, you should be able to remove the outer sleeve, and grab the cable with pliers, pull and release. You would then need to replace the handle / cable.

Depends on which end the cable has parted.

Lever end will need a bit of fishing around under the dash and panels if the end is reachable.

Bonnet end may mean sacrificing the grille to gain access.

A garage will probably be your best option.
