Drivers Seat Jammed On A 3 Door St

Featured Replies

my drivers seat has jammed its on a 3 door focus st

what do you mean jammed on tilt or will not go forwards and back

It won't tilt forward was working fine and won't move today

Not sure on focus st, but on fiesta theres a cable that snaps quite regular, could be simular issue, will have a check and see how focus tilt works

How is it to change or does does it have to go to garage to be done

Give me 5 mins and I will check

Cheers

Yep, same design, theres a cable at the seat tilt handle, you should see it as you pull lever, then that cable splits into 2 and runs down inside seat back to either side of seat base mechanism.

If you have got seat height adjustment , go to lowest position and you may be able to see the cables and tilt mechanisms between base and back. Operate the handle and see which tilt mechanism is not working, will be either the cable snapped at handle, or snapped at mechanism or possibly unclipped from one of the mechanisms

Ok I need to look in the morning then thank you

Not technically difficult to change, just a bit of patience rewuired, 2 screwdrivers, pair of long nose pliers, thats about it I think.

Hi I just wanted to let everyone know my drivers seat was stuck and I looked every where for help to fix it with no luck. Its a 3 door mk2 ford focus 1.6 zetec my son was using the seat by the handle at the top corner of the seat as he pushed the seat forward he pushed it to far and the seat jammed as far forward as it would go. The seat would move maybe 5 to 10 cm when pulling on the bar under the seat but that was it. I found if you sit in the seat brace both your feet lift the bar so it moves 5 to 10 cm and give it some abuse forwards backwards while holding the bar up you need to be extreamly forcefull forwards backwards like your trying to rip the seat from it mounting after four or five times the seat freed itself and now works perfectly. I wanted to add this as no where I looked metioned doing anything like this so if your seats stuck give it some abuse while holding the bar up it works. I dont know what it was jammed on my quess is the seat went to far forward and fell off the end of one or both of its tracks forcing it seems to have put it back inline on its trackHi I just wanted to let everyone know my drivers seat was stuck and I looked every where for help to fix it with no luck.
