It will get to 160-165bhp... suspect that improved "flow" and a dose of v-power would help..

What's the long term effect on engines being remapped with something like Bluefin? Are there any negatives?

Actually a proper decent increase on the ecoboost engines!

There should be no downsides. Superchips's remaps are quite conservative in comparison with some other companies.

Diesel engines will benefit more from remapping than their petrol equivalents, but these increases on the ecoboost are no doubt very effective.

Mmmmm.................So why does it say, Originally 138 bhp, Increase 37 bhp which adds up to 175 bhp ?

What am I missing ?

That's the greatest increase on any part of the power curve, not at the peak...

Ahhh....................... I see (After looking at the Graph)

I was so close to getting it but decided money would be better off being saved for a faster/better car :( would've been fun as hell to drive with that kit tho

A think I would be doing the same buddy get something with a turbo as easier to tune :) cheaper to tune too :)

WELL..................................... Just had a reply from Superchips calibration Engineer regarding them resetting a 2nd user Bluefin handset,

Q1: There is no warranty with a 2nd hand unit:

(which is fair enough), but a new one comes with a lifetime warranty so any thing that goes wrong with the handset & they will repair/replace

Q2: The Superchips warranty on the car:

Any file purchased via a Bluefin reset does not qualify for the Superchips warranty on the car.

:o Now that sounds like if any thing goes wrong due to the map .............. tough !!!!

Oh and they still did not confirm if any BF06 handset would work , lol

Anything goes wrong with map you plug in bluefin and set it back to original

The upgrading of air filters etc & other mods need doing before the remap & not after

Hi all,

Although I agree with you Mark, after having the Bluefin for 6 months, in December I decided to have a talk about fitting an exhaust and an air filter in a local exhaust store. They work mainly with higher horsepower cars and race cars.

Their suggestion was to fit a full exhaust system and not a cat-back. The reason for this, was that the diameter of the pipes is not that narrow and there is no need (significant gain) to have a cat-back. So, they suggested either to fit a full exhaust to get the best out of it, or just an axle-back (muffler) to just ~get the gains of the cat-back (reduce a little bit the back pressure), but in a significantly more economical way.

They also suggested to fit a DAIS, in order to give all the air that it needs.

I'm writing all these, in order to share with you, that during our conversation they made it clear many times that by fitting a cat-back / axle-back exhaust system you will not lose anything from the remap or hurt the remmaped car in any way. On the opposite your car will have gains. They only thing that will give you a warning indicator, is fitting a full exhaust system and having the catalytic converter removed or replacing it with a racing one. And that is, because the ECU is compliant with the European emission standards. Nothing else.

As for the air filter, some say that you might damage the MAF sensor. Again, they made it clear, that obviously K&N wouldn't produce an air filter which could damage your car! And again, they suggested to fit one (I didn't want to fit a DAIS, as I am not sure about that extra sound :( :( ).

In conclusion, (and I apologize for the size of the post) I fitted the axle back and asked to get it as "quiet" as they could.

No problems at all, and to be honest not a great difference (just a little bit).

Three days later I fitted the K&N air filter.

Again no problems at all, with a really noticable extra pull!! I don't know if it is just the air filter or the combination of both, but I can definately say that it is better acceleration wise and obviously sound wise!

I must say again that I agree with you, I just share my experience.

I'm pleased you agree with me Nikos :)

Well I spoke today about adding intercooler a downpipe sports car wtf and they gave me a great response which I will share after I fit my st brakes :P

Paramanic, I agree but what they are saying is.

if any damage to the engine /gearbox then there is no Superchips warranty, as it is a reset unit which has no warranty on either the handset or the car.

I know what his is saying that's this is why I gave my answer.........

My question is how is it going to damage the engine?

A remap is to do with all sorts of things but dint really damage engine this is why the engine has a ecu just puts engine in limp mode if any issues occur ....Willy am sure tested the map for bluefin and his car was fine he had issues with it being a test map and put his car back to normal till they fixed the issues but had no engine problems as the map isn't going to damage engine and for the gear box that's down to the driver if he/she damages it with either being too hard on it or not changing properly not the maps fault for that

Ps other remaps don't give out warranties anyway

Do you change your driving style at all with a remap? I currently change gear at 2000rpm so curious as to how others change up with a remap?

Aye am the same a change gear up to 2k for eco driving and just my normal driving 2bh lol

After 2k the car goes nuts! Love it!

Ps don't take traction control off in 2nd gear on a dual carriageway accelerating a managed to wheel spin it around 40mph lol maybe because it's a wee bit colder up here

Ps I also went for a safe option and got myself st braking system (caliper brake pads discs straight off a 65plate at that was rear ended!) Got them for £145 delivered!

If I'm accelerating faster I want to slow down faster too!

Total different car! All together now with brakes and the map springs next

I never switch off traction control, especially this morning driving through Glasgow, I think the gritters forgot to go out last night [emoji23]

I asked for an insurance quote last night. Most expensive I got was £12,500 and cheapest was £700 so I might give it a miss for now [emoji30] it's brand new anyway and handles perfectly I just wanted the extra power!
