I never switch off traction control, especially this morning driving through Glasgow, I think the gritters forgot to go out last night [emoji23]

I asked for an insurance quote last night. Most expensive I got was £12,500 and cheapest was £700 so I might give it a miss for now [emoji30] it's brand new anyway and handles perfectly I just wanted the extra power!

Before placing any reliance on the superchips warranty, I would carefully read the T&Cs.. In no way does it replace the ford warranty. Should also note that any other mods (exhaust or intake) instantly invalidates the warranty.

I wouldn't worry too much about "having" to do other mods first. The map will give improvements, but other mods are likely to make the gains greater.

I wouldn't have thought mapping before or after other mods with bluefin would make any difference as it is a generic map I believe so won't take into account after market air filters, exhausts, intercoolers etc.

I would have thought a custom map is required if you wanted to make the most horsepower from mods + map

Bluefin is NOT! A generic map :)

It's a custom map what you do is iPad your cars original to superchips they get back to you within 8hours with your remap for your car so it does take into account

I love my custom map :p

Ahh ok cool, I thought they just uploaded a map to you that was pretty generic and it was just done that way so people couldn't resell the map itself. Didn't realise they were custom.

I love my custom map :P

Me too :P

Really?? I'm pretty sure it is generic..

Im sure it is generic, no way there going to do a custom map as they dont have any datalogs from the car to tweak to. Mine was available to download within an hour, the map is just locked to the chassis number before downloading.with origibal stored on there servers.

Thats how I read it.

Ive done custom maps myself on my prevoius car and took lots of data logs to get maximum safe benefit, checking and altering air fuel ratio, ign timing , boost duty cycle, all at differing rpm set points.

Fitting different intakes and exhausts changes the original map and requires tweaks to all parameters to increase performance within safe limits

Intakes alter the maf accuracy and needs a maf recalibration quite often .

Exhausts as in free flowing cats or cat removal normaly nakes turbo boost to increase to high to quick and wastegate needs tuning down at certain rpms,

Then theres kr to look at especially in the summer, thats where intercooler upgrades come in to play.

Been there, done that , got the t-shirt, lol

I was pretty sure Bluefin was generic hence my thinking that it won't take full advantage of other mods. I mean other mods combined even with a generic remap are still going to make an improvement to performance but just not to its max capacity.

Agreed.. and given that Superchips own warranty excludes other mods, then the likelihood of it being a custom map would seem slim..

Don't get my wrong I am still tempted & Bluefin sounds good, had a generic Giac remap on my Leon Cupra a few years back, loved it.

Added an induction kit and custom cat back exhaust system after the remap and even though the map wasn't done with those on it was still awesome.

Remaps just make the driving experience so much better, better throttle response, more torque etc.

I had to tell them what was on my car when writing to them I also sent them a message regarding future mods which they said they can alter my map to accommodate also this is from the manual

If it was generic why would they need to do this? They would send it out and it wouldn't matter what mods you had because it wouldn't matter in a generic map but they need the original map to write a remap for your car .......that's why it can take up to 8hours

Unless it's changed I always thought bluefin was generic, they just select the right file for your car. They can make a few changes if you request them but it's more about power delivery than taking into account other modifications. Still it was 2002/3 when I had my focus remapped by bluefin and it was one of the very first cars.

ps i did notice on older models it used the method b with was generic (mines was method A) but method b was just install whatever was on the bluefin but in method A is upload your map to bluefin etc etc (as seen above in screenshot i took)

Yeah I had to upload a map when I glad it on my Leon Cupra

The map will be specific for the car and engine type, but as others have suggested, it won't be adjusted to make allowance for any mods.

Amazing how a map just alters the way you drive a car,.

I know that one. It is a shame the price isn't under the £100 mark for cars like ours, to make it more tempting!

How much did the st brakes cost and what sort of difference did they make?

Cheers mate. Just a side note, it was actually from reading a few of your posts that I decided to get the bluefin! I think the next upgrade would be brakes. When I upgraded to the ecoboost I was impressed by a lot of things but definitely not by the standard brakes lol
